APA California - Making Great Communities Happen...

APA and CLU Host Speaker Panel Focused On Vulnerable Communities

Event PanelistsOn November 12th, with an audience of more than 20 people in attendance, APA Central Coast partnered with California Lutheran University’s Public Policy and Administration program to chat with three regional professionals from public, nonprofit and academic sectors to discuss what is being done to understand and support vulnerable communities in Ventura County. The event's guest panelists touched on vulnerable community issues including what we know about our region’s most vulnerable communities, how large events and disasters affect the ability for vulnerable communities meet their needs, how community resilience impacts our vulnerable communities, how new initiatives like 805UndocuFund and the Ventura County Rapid Response Fund helped Ventura County organizations support unexpected needs, and other topics.

From the events organizers - we send a huge thank you to Jamshid Damooei, Ph.D., (Professor and Director at California Lutheran University’s Center for Economics of Social Issues), Melissa Livingston (Agency Director for the Ventura County Human Services Agency), and Vanessa Bechtel (President & CEO of the Ventura County Community Foundation).
