Website City of Santa Barbara, Community Development Department

Design Review Project Planner:

This position will play an important role in the City of Santa Barbara’s Planning Division, helping to elevate the quality of the design review experience for applicants, design review board members, and members of the public alike. Under minimal supervision, the Design Review Project Planner will provide critical support to the Design Review & Historic Preservation Supervisor to meet performance standard goals, develop board member trainings, create new content for the City’s website, and coordinate across the Division on various legislative changes and long-range planning goals as they relate to design review and historic preservation. Anticipated work efforts include but are not limited to implementing updated design standards and helping to implement project review process improvements. This position also will liaise with the multiple design review boards and must provide process guidance as necessary to ensure high quality public hearings. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced planner interested in public communication, policy development and implementation, and urban design and architecture. Although this position is within the Design Review & Historic Preservation section of the Planning Division, this position will require significant coordination with the City’s interdepartmental Land Development Team.
