APACA Central Coast Section hosted its annual Planning Awards Event on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The Central Coast Section is comprised of three counties: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The event was held in the City of Santa Barbara’s Palm Park Beach House overlooking Cabrillo Beach in Santa Barbara. The event started with cocktails and mingling. It was a pleasant evening with planners and students networking and colleagues reconnecting. Everyone was enjoying the patio and their colleagues so much that we could hardly start the program! Planners love to talk and meet and greet. The Section Director, Hollee King Winegar, AICP, who also serves as the Planning Awards Officer, was the Emcee for the event. After dinner, the Planning Awards Jurors presented the awards. The Section had a total of 9 nominations this Year and of those nominations, five were Awards of Excellence and four were Awards of Merit. The firm, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP received the high honor of Award of Excellence for Planning Firm Award for their work on housing advocacy in the Central Coast. The evening concluded with a wine raffle of all the unopened bottles of wine for the event and a grand prize of a Trader Joes gift card. There were many happy winners.
